Consumer price index in August 2019 decreased by 0,39 percent

Abstract

·         In August 2019, Nusa Tenggara Barat experienced deflation about 0,39 percent, in other words Consumer Price Index (CPI) decreased from 136,12 in July 2019 to 135,59 in August 2019. While the national level experienced inflation about 0,12 percent.

·          Looking at the regional level, both Mataram and Bima city experienced deflation which were 0,35 percent and 0,56 percent, respectively.

·         Deflation was due to decreasing price index of the following expenditure groups: foodstuff about 1,78 percent; transport, communication and financial services about 0,81 percent. Meanwhile increasing price index occurred in others expenditure groups which were education, recreation and sport about 1,13 percent; clothing about 0,89 percent; health about 0,39 percent; prepared food, beverages, cigarette and tobacco about 0,09 percent;  and housing, water, electricity and fuel about 0,03 percent.

      Inflation rate of Nusa Tenggara Barat in August 2019, based on calendar year, was about 1,19 percent. It was lower compared to August 2018 which was around 2,06 percent. Meanwhile, inflation rate of year on year in August 2019 documented at 2,29 percent which was also lower than the inflation rate of year on year in August 2018 that was about 3,42 percent.
