Abstract

The number of labor force in August 2019 was 2,471.55 thousand people, up by about 234.17 thousand people compared to August 2018. In line with these conditions, the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) also increased by 2.74 percentage points.

  • In the past year, unemployment has increased by an absolute 1.26 thousand people, but the increase in unemployment is much lower than the increase in the number of people working so that the TPT fell by 0.3 percentage points from 3.72 percent (August 2018) to 3, 42 percent in August 2019. When viewed according to education level, the highest TPT was found in the population with a vocational high school (SMK) graduation education, which was 9.63 percent.

  • In August 2019, the working population was 2,387.04 thousand people, an increase of about 232.92 thousand people or 10.81 percent. The percentage of the population working in informal activities decreased by 0.77 percentage point compared to August 2018.

  • Over the past year, 3 (three) business fields that experienced the largest increase were residents who worked in the fields of government administration, defense and mandatory social security (3.62 percentage points), education services (2.01 percentage points), and business fields construction (1.61 percentage points).

  • In August 2019, there were 1,455.39 thousand people (60.97 percent) full-time workers or residents who worked at least 35 hours per week, while the number of non-full workers (working hours less than 35 hours per week) was 931.65 thousand people (39.03 percent) consisted of 338.10 thousand half-unemployed people and 593.55 thousand part-time workers.
