Abstract

·         In May 2018, Nusa Tenggara Barat experienced deflation about 0,28 percent, in other words Consumer Price Index (CPI) declined from 131,21 in April 2018 to 130,84 in May 2018. Meanwhile, the national level experienced inflation about 0,21 percent.

·         Looking at the regional level, both Mataram and Bima city experienced deflation which were 0,25 percent and 0,38 percent, respectively.

·         Deflation was due to decreasing price index of the following expenditure groups: foodstuff about 1,21 percent; and transport, communication and financial services about 0,46 percent. While the increasing price index occurred in the following groups: health about 0,29 percent; clothing about 0,23 percent; prepared food, beverages, cigarette and tobacco about 0,11 percent; education, recreation and sport about 0,07 percent; and housing, water, electricity and fuel about 0,02 percent.

·         Inflation rate of Nusa Tenggara Barat in May 2018, based on calendar year, was around 1,60 percent. Furthermore, inflation rate of year on year in May 2018 documented at 2,82 percent which was lower than the inflation rate of year on year in May 2017 that was about 3,89 percent.
